![]() URBAN RE:VISION is turning “WHAT IF?" into “WHAT IS” by encouraging a re-imagining of the world around us. Our goal? To create the national prototype for wholly sustainable urban living and changing the way we live; one city block at a time. Re:Vision was born out of the belief that each of us has a unique perspective along with a wealth of ideas, energy and resources on how we can create a better urban living experience. Approximately one million people a day move into urban centers and this number continues to grow. This brings added challenges—how do you clothe them, house them, provide for their energy and transportation needs. But it also presents greater opportunities as we can benefit from economies of scale, communities and all of the interaction that occurs within these communities. We have created a six-part, international competition to address some of these challenges and to increase our opportunities. We will receive design proposals from some of the most innovative minds in the design and sustainability fields as well as concerned citizens anxious to look at ways that we can improve the efficiency of cities, and create ways for them to become more sustainable. The winning designs will then be incorporated into the project which will entail the complete renovation of a major-market city block to turn it into a sustainable urban community. The larger goal is to create a template that can then be systematically implemented into other urban environments throughout the country. Each of the six parts of the competition relates to a key issue regarding the quality of urban living. The categories include:
We have evolved. Our technology can support an entirely different way of relating, of being. The world is now effortlessly connected, ideas easily shared and communicated. With our cities, long a melting pot of diversity and forward thinking becoming increasingly more toxic, crumbling and inefficient. WHAT IF we came together and pooled our ideas, energy and resources to create a different kind of urban experience? WHAT IF living in a city were a safe, healthy, beautiful experience that enriched both the community and the environment? We are all creators. We challenge you to ask yourself what kind of urban experience you truly want. BE BOLD. THINK BIG. WHAT IF one person really holds the power to change the world? WHAT IF that person is you? |
