Stonyfield donates 10 percent of its profits to environmental causes; was America's first manufacturer to offset 100 percent of its CO2 emissions from its facility energy use; and recently installed the fifth largest solar array in New England to help power its production plant—all efforts to reduce global warming. As part of its mission to promote healthy food, healthy people and a healthy planet, Stonyfield Farm is proud to launch a new initiative, RenewUS This is a collaborative effort with the EARTHDAY NETWORK, an international environmental network dedicated since 1970 to empowering people to effect large scale positive environmental change; and CLEAN AIR-COOL PLANET, a nonprofit organization that educates industry, consumers and policy makers about the challenges and solutions to global climate change.
The groups have come together with a shared conviction that the time for talk about global warming has passed, and that significant industrial, consumer and political action is now necessary. The goal is to catalyze broad-based societal actions that will slow and eventually reverse human-induced climate change. Stonyfield and its partners have no interest in doom and gloom reporting and hand-wringing and instead believe that positive change starts with a hopeful outlook that real change is possible.
RenewUS intends to stimulate enactment of broad non-partisan high-impact political and industrial policy to reduce and sequester greenhouse gases. Over the coming months and years, a variety of initiatives will engage a wide range of constituencies in a constructive program of economic, political and industrial endeavors.
