How can I volunteer/get involved?
SIGN UP, or if your school is already signed up, get in touch with existing organizers. Don't see your best friend/sibling's school on the MAP? Get them to sign up.
What support does Focus the Nation provide to organizers like me?
The ORGANIZERS HQ has all of the tools and resources you will need to organize your event. The Focus the Nation organizing team is here for you round the clock. Any time you have a question or concern, CONTACT US!
I'm busy. How can I fit this into my schedule?
Organizing a Focus event is easy, especially once you get more people involved at your school. Schools are participating on a variety of levels, and we have the TOOLS you need to make this as stress-free as possible.
Who should I be in touch with at my school?
- Get ENDORSEMENTS from your college president, the SGA, faculty senate, board of trustees, etc...
- Recruit faculty members, students and staff to be on your planning committee.
- Enlist faculty members to participate in panel discussions.
- Ask your school's technical support team to help with the 2% Solution webcast and Green Democracy.
- Talk with all of the student organizations on campus to get them involved.
- Coordinate with your school's PR department to GENERATE A BUZZ on and off campus.
- Reserve spaces on campus through the appropriate channels.
- Reach out to others beyond your campus.
How do I connect with other organizers?
Call in to the bi-monthly organizer conference call, share tips and questions on the ORGANIZER'S FORUM or contact organizers through their event profiles on the MAP.
How do I contact elected officials?
Fax, email, call and send them letters by snail mail. Use our TEMPLATE and send out hand-written versions. The more exposure the better.
How do I get other schools involved?
Get in touch with your friends/colleagues whose schools aren't signed up, and tell them how awesome and powerful this movement is!
Technical Issues:
How do I do the webcast?
All you need is an internet connection and some way to project it onto a large screen. Just go to www.earthdaynet.org and watch it at 8pm EST on January 30th, 2008. The webcast will be available for download immediately following the live broadcast.
Where do I vote on the top 5 policy solutions?
You can discuss the "Choose Your Future" solutions on the FORUM. You will be able to vote online in January.
