YOUNG LEADERS TO ENGAGE COMMUNITIES AND SENATORS WITH NATIONWIDE CLEAN ENERGY FORUMS

We must seize the opportunity to make Copenhagen a significant step forward in the global fight against climate change.” -President Barack Obama at the UN Summit on climate change, Sep. 22, 2009.

PORTLAND, Ore. —With the Senate debating the Clean Energy Jobs and American Power Act (CEJAPA), and the Obama administration preparing for the COP15 International Climate Negotiations, Focus the Nation is seizing the opportunity for clean energy solutions by coordinating a series of youth-organized Clean Energy Forums in target states across the country as part of their Community and the Road to Copenhagen campaign.

“Our young organizers know that the world is waiting for U.S. leadership. They know what’s at stake and they are shocked at how slow the Senate is moving,” said Garett Brennan, executive director, Focus the Nation. “That’s why each of our teams is out there building ethnic, inter-generational and professional partnerships, and generating buy-in from their community. They are trying to help the Senate connect immediately with constituents in district.”
