Community Outreach
Armed with a great set of visuals, you’re ready to get the word out to the community. These events are about attempting to involve your entire community.
Where to Start
The more you can talk with people and put a face on your event, the more likely you are to get a big turnout. Good places to start shaking hands and promoting your event are:
- Meetings of Community Organizations
- Political Organizations
- Local Churches
- Community Fairs
- Lectures
- Athletic Events
- Art Shows
- Fundraisers
- Concerts
What to Say
Listen, listen, listen. What does the community want to see? Strategically integrate these similarities into your planning process to highlight solidarity and convey a unified voice. It’s all about making people feel involved and excited. They’re not just coming to an event. They’re engaging in a community forum on how to build a more just and prosperous clean energy future. Encourage them to bring their friends, family and colleagues.
What to Say
It’s important to note the resources you have at your disposal. You have a strong organizing team, a diverse group of participating organizations and individuals. Each of these groups has networks that they should tap into to publicize your event. Make sure that you get a mass email from all of your supporters and identify the other low-hanging fruit in terms of getting your message out.
