Let's Get Organizing! Focus the Nation launches: "Community and the Road to Copenhagen"
The time is NOW Climate Leaders! The preseason is over. This is when it counts!
The US Senate is preparing to tackle the Climate Bill (ACES). The Obama administration and US delegation are preparing for the COP15 International Climate Negotiations in Denmark this December. And the anti-climate media machine and dirty industries are working together to defeat strong climate legislation, and tear down clean energy heroes like Van Jones! It's our job to stop them, lift our towns up and demand our Clean Energy Future be preserved!
Organize Organize Organize
Starting this week, Focus the Nation hopes to work with you to finish what we started last April and to make sure Obama heads to COP 15 with an ACE in his pocket!
In states across the country FTN will activate teams to develop “Clean Energy Forums" to engage their community and their Senator this fall on the need for strong Federal climate legislation, and a strong US commitment at COP15.
Focus the Nation will also work with each team to:
- Incorporate multiple stakeholders in your organizing effort and forum including: communities of color, impoverished communities, faith, academia, business, and more.
-Build important moderation and facilitation skills for you and your team.
-Implement information capturing systems; so we can tell the world about your Clean Energy Forum and hold your leaders accountable!
-Invite and engage your Senators, other policy makers, and community leaders.
For those of you with packed fall schedules, we will keep you informed on volunteer opportunities to help with clean energy forums near you. We also have tens of thousands of calls and handwritten letters to get into Senate offices and the White House, as well as other important community activities to tap you into!
FTN's Got Your Back!
We have incorporated some important new systems to make your teams and events stronger:
- Online guides and training
- Targeted financial support for a select number of FTN volunteer organizers and their events
- Support systems and on-the-ground partnership coordination.
- A brand new interactive and collaborative online organizing platform that's destined to make your lives easier
Just like last April, we will have all your important resources and templates available on the website. And most importantly, we will have a stellar team of National Organizers to guide you every step of the way.
You're so excited you just fell out of your chair right? Of course you are. So get your team together and get in touch with our Field and Online Organizing Manager, Scott Duncombe, about next steps!
