Position:
National Organizer

Prior to joining Focus the Nation in September 2009, Trell was selected as a Politicorps fellow through the Oregon Bus Project, where he participated in a 10 week grassroots-organizing boot camp. Before moving to Oregon, he worked as a Producer for NBC News Channel in Charlotte, North Carolina. Trell took a leave of absence from NBC to join the 2008 Obama Campaign for Change as a Press Assistant and Media Constituency Outreach coordinator for two states, Georgia and the key battleground state of North Carolina. During this experience he decided to take a more active role in politics and "be the change he wanted to see."

A native of South Carolina, Trell earned his B.S. in Broadcast Journalism from Winthrop University. At Winthrop, he served on the board of many organizations and as president of the National Panhellenic Council, an association of students belonging to greek lettered fraternities and sororities on campus. Trell was voted Winthrop's 2008 Homecoming King. He was a key contributor to organizing many campus fund raisers and events, including a student “fair treatment” rally after the arrests in Jena, Louisiana.

When he's not working on environmental issues, Trell loves to watch movies, hike, listen to music, cook, ride his bike, and hang out with friends and family.
